“Robotics” Aired on MSG Varsity
On May 12, MSG Varsity aired an all-new television special titled “Robotics,” which followed three local high school teams as they prepared to compete in the SBPLI Long Island Regional FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) sponsors this event as part of FIRST’s (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) nationwide high school robotics competition. Teams featured in the one-hour special were Team 329 from Patchogue-Medford High School, Team 353 from Plainview-Old Bethpage High School and Rookie Team 4006 from Central Islip High School.
In “Robotics,” cameras followed the three Long Island teams throughout the process of building a competition-ready robot for the Long Island Regional Competition which took place at Hofstra University. This year’s competition, entitled “Rebound RumbleSM”, tasked teams to build robots that can score as many basketballs into hoops as possible during a two minute and fifteen second match. The show concluded with the competition, highlighting how well these three Long Island teams fared against the other 47 high school teams from the region.
