Altice USA and Infosys Give FIRST Long Island Robotics Team Members a First-Hand Look at the Latest in Artificial Intelligence Technology
School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) recently brought FIRST® Robotics Competition and FIRST® Tech Challenge team members from five Nassau County high schools to Altice USA and Infosys’ Innovation Roadshow – High School Robotics Event at Altice’s Bethpage, New York facility. The event, which was held on Wednesday, November 15, was part of a two-day technology-focused roadshow benefitting high school students, college students and technology leaders alike. Through its sponsorship of SBPLI, Altice, one of the largest broadband communications and video services providers in the United States, extended a special invitation for the event to FIRST Long Island team members from Bethpage, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Seaford and Syosset High Schools and Our Lady of Mercy Academy.
During the event, Altice partnered with Infosys, a global leader in technology services and consulting, to provide artificial intelligence and augmented reality demonstrations to the students. A subsequent panel discussion taught students the benefits of using technology to solve business problems and enhance entertainment for consumers.
The two-day Innovation Roadshow also included a 24-hour Hackathon, during which students from Purdue University Stevens Institute of Tech and Stony Brook University were charged with providing viable solutions in three areas: Enhanced Digital Experiences, Improved Customer Care and Total Cost of Ownership Reduction using the latest solutions in artificial intelligence, automation, virtualization and more. Hackathon teams then presented their ideas to a panel of Altice USA and Infosys leaders that selected the first, second and third-place winners.
During the event’s employee-focused Technology Tradeshow, Altice and Infosys employees learned about cutting-edge technology and inspiring new ideas within each of the companies’ developing areas, such as digital first and customer experience, artificial intelligence, robotics process automation and data analytics.
